As summer begins to unwind and the days are shortening, as a card maker the thoughts have already turned towards Christmas. Of course traditionally red and green predominate the market. However several years ago I began to depart from that and began to bring in plums and teals, then my source for the plum cardstock I had been using dried up. Recently, I found it back in stock, so I was back in business! Today I'm showing off a simple card using plum and shades of green.
The bottom forest green and top spring green layer (Hollos) have been embossed with the same Sizzix Sugar embossing folder (from the Sugar and Starry Night set #657066). A middle layer of Leapfrog (Bazzil Basics) a lighter green, has not been embossed. The top plum layer (Hollos) is cut and embossed with Spellbinders Labels Eighteen and the sentiment "Rejoice" (Rubber Cottage) is embossed with Stampendous Sterling Silver embossing powders.
Get creative and plan now to do your own Christmas cards...the sky is the limit! Have fun...and thanks for stopping by...

Yellow & Gray I/O Challenge
Thought I would try something new...a new challenge and new colors...ones I haven't tried before! This set from Impression Obsession is designed by Tami Potter of Wish-n-the-Wind...famous for their Mosaic Moments Grid scrapbooking papers.
You can find these clear stamps at the Impression Obsession web site...Summer Seals CL 107. I've used the flower stamp from this set.
The dotted papers are from Lasting Impressions and I have used a swiss dot embossing folder for texture, also cut with Spellbinders Circles a portion of the flower base from the yellow on yellow dots paper. The gray ribbed cardstock is from Hollos.
To see some of the other cards that have been submitted for this challenge go to the Impression Obsession Blog for the August 16th posting for the Yellow & Gray Challenge. (check the left hand column for the link)
Thanks so much for stopping by...

Birthday Bouquet
Greetings! This really isn't a bouquet in the way you may expect, but it was a flower stamp, Blossom, by Daisy Bucket that I began with to create a pattern that is similar to a wedding ring quilt pattern. I've used chalks on the reverse side of the vellum ( Sage, Pink Petunia and Aegean Blue by Versa Magic.) and finished the sentiment inside for a birthday and a Penny Black stamp. However, this could easily be used for any occasion, or just a note card.
Sometimes it pays to try a stamp as a decorative element and create a whole new look...be adventurous try something new! My inspiration for this card? You only have to look to the top right hand corner of this blog to see the connection!
