DeNami Design Fab Three Spotlight!

A slow start up on the PC today did not bode well for accomplishing anything today. Guess that's what I get for being away from the keyboard for a long break...traveling with my Mum to Canada to visit her sister and other family members I haven't seen in years...HOWEVER...the wonderful news awaiting me in the emails today was a letter from Paulina of DeNami Designs saying I was featured in the Fab Three Spotlight...and that I actually won! I was elated! See the fab button to the right I get to show off? Now, time for a spending spree on  their site! Which card won? It was the card with the onesies strung out to dry with the congrats in the sun!

DeNami Design: Sketch Challenge #9

Well, I got up this morning with a ton of last minute details for starting the school year and ending the old with reports and notifications...and somehow, I got distracted. (really?? how did that happen? HA!) Anyway, I proceeded down the paper trail I'd left the last few days working on a submission for Doodlebug Designs, trying to tidy up, all the while contemplating the sketch challenge from DeNami Designs  for August...then before I knew it, I wasn't doing what I should be but on to a couple of new card designs. In theory, they could do for both assignments, but DD is already in...and they were intended for the DeNami Sketch  Challenge.

Card 1.

Yes...it is the lambie again...but as I told you before...I really like sheep.
For this one I cut the centers out of the dotted circles (to form a ring of dots) and backed the rings with the same size as the outer sized circle in a lighter shade of aqua, a shade good for a boy or a girl, and connected them together to come up with the general size/shape for the sketch.

cardstock: Core'dinations "All In the Family"-Aqua Blues two shades
Doodlebug Design Petite Prints series: swimming pool flower-stripe
Stamps: DeNami Design: sheep, baby circle, and dotted circle
ribbon by American Crafts
Ink: Versa Color-Lagoon Blue,
       Brilliance-Graphite Black
Spellbinders classic and classic scallop circles

Card 2.

cardstock: white and aqua from Hollo's
patterned papers from Doodlebug Design Inc. all papers from the Petite Prints series colors used:
bumble bee dot-grid,
tangerine flower-stripe,
grasshopper flower-stripe,
swimming pool flower-stripe,
cupcake, bubblegum and lilac dot-grid
sun was cut with Spellbinders classic circle,
used embossing tool to scribe the edge to line up with the grass,
free style cut for clouds. sun rays are done with EK Success rain drop punch
Ink: Brilliance-Graphite Black
      Stampin' Up-Only Orange

Well, tomorrow the Superintendent's secretary may be on me for not having all my papers filed by today, but I found today to be quite productive!

Delightful Doodlebug Design's

All set for a burst of bright summer colors? These papers by Doodlebug Design Inc. are fabulous for so many occasions. Their bright colors are perfect for scrapping your summer outings, birthday parties and making cheery cards, or mini-books. I'm sharing a few of the things I've been working on lately...hope they inspire you.

Don't these rainbow of colors just shout SUMMER FUN!??

Cards don't need to be complicated...the double-sided papers in this Petite Prints line give you a two-for-one deal. In the same color family you can flip and switch all on one card for variety. The aquadot cardstock (with the pre-glittered dots) adds bling with out a lot of extra work.

Want a way to add a journalling block? Doodlebug Design has a line of blank cards for you to finish that are perfect for adding journaling and  additional photos that are a part of the story, but not the focus of the page.

For all the details of the papers and products used go to:  Doodlebug details on my Flickr account  where details of each of the projects is available.

DeNami Design Mini-Card Blog Hop

Welcome to Five Pines!

I'm Andrea Fisher, welcome to my blog, it's good to have you drop by. You are nearly at the end of the DeNami Design Mini Card Hop...thanks so much for hanging in! You probably have arrived from
 Karen McAlpine 's blog
and have plenty of new inspiration for your own creations.  I'm excited to have you join me and share my card with you. It's my first hop and I'm new to blogging (so I'm hoping  to keep the mistakes to a minimum.)

My card was inspired by the baby quilts I'm working on this summer. I love sheep...and the star of this card  is one of my first DeNami stamps...this adorable wee lamb, accompanied by two other DeNami stamps:

I've used Spellbinders dies for the circles and scalloped circles and cut this card in a large scalloped circle just off the edge at the fold to allow for a top fold.
Texture to imitate the sheep was from the D'vine Swirl embossing folder by Cuttlebug
It is topped by a black and white dotted ribbon from Craft Essentials line by JoAnn Fabric.
ink is Versa Color #14 Scarlet and black by Stamps by Judith
cardstock from Hollos

Thanks so much for stopping by on your way to more great fun with

and be sure to leave your comments along the way!

A Little Celebration

We are just hours away from the DeNami Mini-Card Blog Hop  and I'm really looking forward to that event, (stop back Sunday or Monday) but in the meantime I'm going to post a Birthday card that I've come to really like. I tried a few new ideas and a few products I'm not usually known to use and in the end, came up with something I really liked. It even inspired me when I began working on projects for Doodlebug Design's new FB page and Blog...the orange dots are similar to their new Petite Prints dot grid paper.

Stamps: Inkadinkado-Birthday Wishes; Art Gone Wild- cupcake
Glitter: Martha Stewart
papers: Imaginensce
cardstock: orange peel and white-Hollos
3D Crystal Lacquer: Sakura Hoby Craft
inks: Darice, Adirondack
