Mosaic Moments Challenge #6

The second challenge for March
was to choose a famous artist and let them
inspire your photos in your layout.
As you can see, I made use of many
stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry, in the title and borders.

Here are a few of my chosen artist's paintings, not as well known as most of their work...Come and visit Journella to see the full layout!

Thanks for dropping by....

Pretty Pink Posh's 10 minute dash...and a half!

CD_13

Paulina over at Pretty Pink Posh has been challenging her design team and the general cardmaking public to attempt to make a card in the selected color scheme in 10 minutes or less. This is challenge #13! I never imagined I could do this as my card making processs takes a longer...a lot longer!! Nevertheless I was inspried by this color scheme and wanted to give it a go.  In fact here's the rules:

How to Play

  1. Create a card/craft project within 10 minutes featuring the color palette.
  2. Post the time it took to create.
  3. Be sure to include the challenge graphic in your post and link to the challenge.
  4. You may combine a total of three challenges with your entry. You may enter the challenge a maximum of two times.
  5. Subscribe to Pretty Pink Posh via Email

You can pull out your supplies before your timer starts!

* If you aren’t able to stay within the 10 minutes, you can still link up your item! While it won’t quality for the winner spot, it might still be featured in the favorites!

I had gathered all my supplies (or so I thought) ahead of time as allowed and got my timer ready. I soon found that the end to my new bamboo cord was well buried and took forever to find and unwind! Later I found I forgot the punch to make a hole for the cording AND no needle that might have helped a fraying cord get shoved through an inadequate hole! SO time kept ticking upward and I let it go. When I finished I saw the knot had been tied too long and hung wrong and I hadn't got the foam mounted line of trees aligned correctly. I made the corrections leaving the clock still ticking finishing at 15:33...the 10 minute dash...and a half! While this card will not qualify for any winner award, I'm still going to post it over at Pretty Pink Posh for fun, and incentive to try again and to improve my timing...a lot!

When I saw the earthy choice of colors I thought it would be great for a masculine card...and with Father's Day the next big guy card occasion I decided to use my DeNami Design Father's Day Stamp for the greeting. In addition I used a tag and tag stamp from the Tiny Tags stamps and dies at PAPERTRYink. Dew Drop Versa Magic Chalk Ink in Jumbo Java was used for both sentiments and the back layer of trees. The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug's Fabric Swatches set.

What I began with...

the official time...15:33....ugh!

So, take a trip over to Paulina's blog and see all the cards for the 10 minute dash and maybe join in the fun?

Hopefully you have arrived from the very talented Wendy Elliot's blog . If you need to start at the beginning you can head back to the DeNami Blog.

The card today uses the CL-F216 Happy Birthday Script stamp and D116 Penguin w/balloon. The card is made with a base of Core'dinations pearl blue and pearly white. Stamped with versa fine ink, embossed with black Zing! embossing powder. Spectrum Noir pen IG3, Crayola glitter pen in blue and orange Crystal lacquer are used to enhance the penguin. The Martha Stewart Scoring board was used to score the pearly white to resemble the blocks of an igloo.  The pearl paper doesn't show up as well as I had hoped but it does add to the frosty theme of the penguin card!

Now you can continue on your way to the lovely Kerrie Smith and see what she has in store for the celebration!

Thanks so much for stopping by...remember to leave a comment to increase your chances of winning some of the fantastic prizes!

Not Quite a Traditional Easter Card

Still working on my card therapy for the night and thought I'd depart from the usual spring colors or even the green and purple associated with the Resurrection theme, for another Easter card. I know this might be too bold of a color choice for the liking of some, but given the events of Good Friday, very appropriate I think. I have again gone with stamp sets from Our Daily Bread Stamps, first using Amazing Grace Hymn (for my background) and Cross of Christ set for the cross and verse from Hebrews 12:2a. I thought I'd get a bit visual for the message of Easter and the verse on the stamp. My color choices had much to do with this verse:
Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.
Isaiah 1:18

and the verse stamped on the card:
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, Who, for the joy set before Him endured the cross...Hebrews 12:2a.

I began with a card face cut to 3 7/8"x 5 1/8" using Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Ink to edge and frame the card surface. Then I took Candy Apple Red Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to spritz around spots on the card for a drippy red look. I heat set it to speed up the process. Returning to Rusty Hinge to stamp the Amazing Grace Hymn on top of the layered colors. From Spellbinders Labels Eighteen a white label, embossed and edged with Prismacolor Metallic Gold pen. The verse is then stamped with Tim Holtz Barn Door, next medium cross in Brilliance Galaxy Gold. Two Macarena Corners (Memory Box) in Core'dinations Pearl Gold to lay in behind the label. The face card is mounted on a white card base edged in Metallic Gold Prismacolor pen.

Thanks for stopping by for a look,

Celebrating the Resurrection

It's been a busy few weeks and before it's too late I thought I'd try to design a few card for Easter. It's been years since I've made and sent cards, but it hasn't stopped me from buying stamps and having good intentions to do it...this year...each year! This is the first I hope of many, but it may just be the first. period. We'll see how the coming days unfold. It is a good time, just like Christmas, to share my faith and the Good News of the Gospel...Each year the message seems to be further hidden behind bunnies and eggs and baskets of goodies. Quite a far call from the true meaning!

These are the items I used for this card.
The background stamp is "He Shall Be Called" from Our Daily Bread and the other "Resurrection Cross" from Stampabilities. The background stamp is in Adirondack Eggplant, and brushed areas with Color Box Plum Berry. A final spritz of Olive Vine Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist was applied around the edges of the card face.
Layers of purple and green cardstock make up the base of the card.
From Tim Holtz antique linen, vintage photo and walnut stain were used to enhance the cross that was stamped with Versa Fine onyx black.

How are you preparing to Celebrate the Risen Saviour?

Thanks so much for joining me today, it's nice to have you visit!
