Core Cards Creative Frenzy

Today I'd like to present three cards that feature Core'dinations Cardstock. Each card uses at least two different collections. One of the main features of Core'dinations Cardstock is that it is designed to be sanded, torn, antiqued or for the not so brave, to use as is! The colors in the various palettes are bold and bright and rich. The core of the papers vary from white to colors matching the main color to those that contrast. There is a look for everyone.

This first card (4.25"x 5.5") was designed with a western look. The Core'dinations All in the Family Cobalt Blue paper torn and sanded for the feel of old, worn and faded jeans. Next a layer of bandanna paper followed by a Sandy Tan in the All in the Family collection that is embossed with Provo Craft's Textile embossing folder for the look of tooled leather.

This is repeated in a darker shade in the Sandy Tans for the leather patch with the birthday greeting (from Whispers-Sugarloaf products) in Copper ( Zing! embossing powder). Antique copper brads (Making Memories) secure the patch in place.

Card #2 (4-5/8"x6-3/8") is featuring the Whitewash paper collection and the Oceans Blues 'All in the Family' collection from Core'dinations. For a nautical feel I chose the Whitewashed Colonial Blue. With the color side up I used the Martha Stewart Scoring Board to score every half inch. Flipped it over and sanded down the lines just created to give the look of bead board and then lightly sanded the whole surface to give it a weathered look. This was the base for the card as well as a section cut with the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen.

The lighter Ocean Blues layer was embossed with D'Vine Swirl embossing folder from Provo Craft. To resemble breaking waves random swirls were sanded. Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two cut to fit behind the Spellbinders Oval and Labels Eighteen cameo center piece. The lighthouse stamp is from Stampin' Up, stamped in cobalt blue and edged in colonial blue on a white with blue speckled cardstock.

The final card (4-5/8"x6-3/8") for this post is a multi-layered card. Beginning with a solid black cardstock then adding a layer of red Whitewashed Core'dination Cardstock embossed with Provo Craft Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then using an EK Success punch for a dotted scallop edge on both top and bottom. Spellbinders dies Hearts, Scalloped Hearts and Small Circles are used to form the candy and the candy box. A red bow attached to the bottom right hand for a touch of softness, and helps to camouflage the exposed side of the box.

The box lid is made from one of the hearts cut out of the heart layers and tops a scalloped heart. It is then stamped with DeNami Design's Love heart stamp with VersaMark watermark ink.

Three hearts were cut inside larger hearts and stacked with foam tape on top of a base heart. Three layers of circles in paper from the Chocolate Box line of Core'dination's paper are used to create the candy for my box. I chose yellow, orange, green and red backed shades of brown and ran through the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder then sanded the swirls to reveal the colors. My version of a box of chocolates that you know what's inside before you bite in!

I hope you found something you'd like to try. There are so many ways to use the Core'dination Cardstock, be sure to try some soon!

  2. My favorite out of this bunch is the sailing ship one! The weathered wood bead-board is perfect- it looks so real! The center die-cut flourish looks like sea grasses and are the perfect touch!
